Hardox® 450 is probably the world’s most recognised wear-resistant steel, with strict tolerances and excellent structural properties, exclusive to SSAB. With a nominal hardness of 450 HBW, Hardox® 450 combines good bending capacity and excellent weldability. The extra 50 HBW hardness compared to our Hardox® 400 grade offers better abrasion and deformation resistance, as well as longer service life. Or you can use the additional hardness to reduce plate thickness and achieve lighter equipment.
Hardox® 500 is a high abrasion-resistant steel that can be bent and welded and has a nominal hardness of 500 HBW. Ideal for applications requiring greater wear resistance. Hardox® 500 increases load capacity and service life of structures whilst maintaining good processing capacity and toughness.
